Jennie Stewart who is my Great Grandmother, was born in 1904 as well. It's a family rumor, that she was born on the ship on the way over, but they still listed Scotland as her place of birth. I think Peter came over in 1903, and a year later, the family followed. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Stewart, Jr.'s life on November 14, 2010 at the GLASS MOLDERS PLASTICS AFL-CIO (GMP) Local 244 Hall 350 HUDSON AVE Avenue, Newark , Ohio from 12 p.m.- 5 p.m. Please come with stories about Carl and to eat!! Carl, our beloved son and brother, passed away at The Ohio State Medical Center on October 30, 2010 after a nine month fight for survival. He was born June 17, 1953 to Carl and Martha Stewart. Carl attended Newark, Ohio City Schools, graduating in 1971. He also attended Baldwin-Wallace College, graduating in 1975. He was employed at The Ohio State University Medical Center, Columbus, Ohio. Carl loved to read, hunt, and watch movies and sports on television. Carl is survived by his family, but you know all of us. More importantly, Carl is survived by the family he chose, his wonderful friends. His friends visited, called, and sent emails throughout his illness. Chums from middle school, high school, church, and various other activities he was involved with in Newark, Ohio were always asking one of us about him. His fraternity brothers and fellow athletes from Baldwin-Wallace were particularly a blessing by telling stories most of us had never heard. Some of those stories were quickly followed by "Not Carl!!" He also had friends from all over the world due to his previous participation in The World Transplant Games. Carl loved every one of these friends and he knew they loved him too. Our family would also like to thank the wonderful employees of the James Cancer Hospital and OSU Medical Center for taking such exceptional care of Carl. They became an extension of our family. Dr. Michael Caligiuri was Carl's guardian angel and through a clinical trial in 1998, he gave us twelve more years with Carl. Dr. Caligiuri, we will be forever in your debt. If you wish to remember Carl through donation, please send to The James/Caligiuri Research Fund, PO Box 183112, Columbus, Ohio, 43218-3112. Your best bet is a local library; many do have the whole series, and even if yours doesn't have it, ILL might be able to get it for you. Check the home page at http://users.hol.gr/~mkyritsi/ , there is a link at the top which gives the libraries I have been told about, though there may be more. Also the LDS has it all on microfilm, if you are anywhere near one of their Family History Centers. The call numbers are also give on that same link. Good luck. Alexander Stewart & Mary McLachlan of Comrie, Perthshire, Scotland came to Illinois in 1817/1818. Who were there parents in Scotland? Mary daughter of Colin Campbell of Airdoard?? Both Alexander and Mary McLachlan were actually cousins, direct descendants of Robert the Bruce. Related on the Campbell side. Their grandfather, Colin Campbell, led the 3 Clans into battle of Culloden in 1745. The grandfathers MacLachlan, and Stewart were taken prisoner and treated terribly and maybe have been beheaded. Any more information from Scotland would be appreciated. Linda
The MacLachlan chief had his head blown off by a cannon. The MacLachlans were on the front line at Culloden. Daniel and Azuba's children aren't in the Stewart Clan Magazine, but both of them are. She was also called Leafy. There is quite an informative paragraph on Ebenezer on D270 (Tome D, p. 270), in the issue of May 1942. Have a look at the Index to the SCM at http://users.hol.gr/~mkyritsi/ to trace the family back. My grandfather about 60 years ago started our genealogy. At the top he stated Stewart Family of Antrim. My problem is the farthest back I can get is Anthony born about 1700 somewhere in Ireland. In 1724 he is listed in Dunmuckrum Co Donegal as a landholder, he has 3 sons Robert(my line) Anthony and John born in that order. Since Anthony is not the normal first name was wondering if you came across any Anthony's. Did the Dna on my brother years ago and still no Stewart connection. Thanks for hearing me out.
