Hello STEVENS Listers, I have been trying to figure out what happened to my gggg grandfather, George STEVENS. I found him and his wife Mary, and their children, Samuel, George, Mary, William, Thomas, James, John, and Hester, in the 1841 census living in Barrow Gurney, Somerset, UK. The problem is that George is not listed with his wife and children in the later census but in the 1851 and 1861 census' his wife, Mary, continued to say she was married. There were other George STEVENS born around the same time in the same county but I haven't been able to find any that were strays anywhere. The 1841 census shows George as a 40 year old farmer, and his wife Mary was also listed as 40. The 1851 census shows Mary as married, head of household, and a farmer with 56 acres. The 1861 census shows her as married, head of household, farmer of 70 acres with employees. Does anyone have any information on him, his whereabouts, or his family or any ideas on what might be up with his wife continuing to say she was married. Any help is greatly appreciated.
