    3. Those two men you mention, Colin, are among several men and women of the Stevens surname listed in "Genealogy of the Stevens Family from 1635 to 1891" by Frederick S. Stevens, 1891. Frederick S. Stevens, however, did not identify the ship on which those men arrived, but he does spell their names Stevens and gives the age of Thomas as 35 and the age of Edward as 53. He also provides an explanation of the reason that emigrants from England sailed to Barbadoes or Bermuda before coming to North America, namely, to avoid taking an oath of allegiance and (religious) conformity required before leaving for New England and Virginia.. Unfortunately, that 1891 book contains no further details on either of those men.
