Do you have the names and place of birth of his children? My husbands GGrandfather was James D. Stephens (spelled Stephens in all of the records I found but the family spells it Stevens now). He was born in KY about 1827, married in Missouri about 1848. Named first son John J. which could mean he was named after James' father. John J. married Ruth Ann Coggburn (Scottish). That is what caught my attention about the line of John Brown Stephens. Always looking for those clues. Pat
