My Jacob was born in 1830 in Germany. He was married to Jane Unknown born 1834 in Scottland. My William (Robinson) Stevens/Stephens was born in 1874/75 in Indiana. He was raised by Jacob and Jane. I don't know if they adopted him legally or not, but I know know that he took their last name for the rest of his life and so did all his children. The census I have for this proff is started as follows: Township of Franklin, County of Johnson, State of Indiana, 1880. Later in life you will find that William married Eva and Jane later lived with them in Morgan Co. If any of this sounds familar, please let me know. Thanks! Marcia
