I have found that his mother at her death stated that "Henry W Stevens is MY son". There is also a story that Henry's original last name was Pool(e) and that three members of his family died in a buggy accident and that is how he came to his mother Sara Stevens. I have found no record yet of a marriage for Sara Stevens until she wed Thomas Tanner in 1895. Henry W Stevens 18 Jan 1880 Gouverneur, St. Lawrence, New York and died 1954 Richville Sta Lawrence County New York. His mother was Sarah Marie Stevens born in 1854 in Gouverneur St Lawrence County New York. She was the daughter of James C and Mary A Patterson Stevens.
