John's wife name was Elizabeth (maiden name still unknown) and he had two daughters. Mary married Abraham TENNISON and Ann married a man named RICHARDSON. Ann's husband died before her father wrote his will in 1759. John made a bequest to his Godson, John RUSSELL, as well. Here is a transcript of John's will: Maryland Hall of Records, Annapolis, Maryland St. Mary's County, Maryland Wills Liber TA #1, folio 436 2 November 1759 - 7 February 1763 In the name of God, Amen. Nov. ye 2nd day 1759. I, John Stevens of Saint Mary's Co and province of Maryland being of perfect mind and memory, thanks be to God For the same and calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, so make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form as followeth, to wit: My will and desire is that my just debts be paid. Item: I give and bequeth to ABRAHAM TENNISON with was married to my daughter MARY on shilling sterling money it being in full his part of my estate. Item: I give and bequeath to JOHN RUSSELL, my godson, son of WILLIAM RUSSELL my saddle, bridle, horse and saddlecloth. Item: I give and bequeath all the now remainder part of my estate that is to say my negro man called Cosar, and also my negro woman called Cate, with all my debts and moveable effects to be equally divided in quantity and quality between my well-beloved wife, ELIZABETH STEVENS, and my daughter-in-law Widow, ANN RICHARDSON. and I also appoint my with ELIZABETH STEVENS my whole and sole executrix of this my last will and testament, in testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affix my seal the day and year first mentioned above. JOHN STEVENS (seal) Signed, sealed and delivered in the person of us: Charles Atwood Jane Dunbar --------------- St. Mary's County, Maryland 7th Feby. 1763 Came Charles Atwood and Jane Dunbar subscribing witnesses to the within will and made oath on the Holy evangels of Almighty God that they did see John Stevens the testator, sign and seal this will and heard him publish foresd and sealed the same to be his last will and testament, and that at the time of his so doing he was to the best of their and each of their apprehension of sound and disposing mind and memory and that they subscribed their respective names as witnesses to the will in the presence of the said testator.
