    1. [STEVENS] STEVENS kin - NC>IN>KS

    3. My GG grandfather, Dr. Isom STEVENS, was born in Rowan Co., North Carolina in 1804 and died in Wayne Co., Indiana in 1871. His father was Spencer, and his grandfather was Sampson STEVENS. Isom's son, Joseph Marion STEVENS, born 1845 in Centerville, Wayne Co., Indiana, died 1920 in Hugoton, Stevens Co., Kansas. Joseph's wife was Nancy Elizabeth McCASHLAND. They had nine children, all but the last were born in Wayne Co., IN. Their oldest daughter, Lovetta Leora STEVENS, was my paternal grandmother, who married 1891 in Barton Co., Kansas to Everett Tandy HILL. What I'm needing (wanting) is further information on Isom, Spencer and Sampson. I believe, but have found no proof, that this STEVENS family were Quakers, and they left North Carolina for Indiana about 1820. A couple of reasons I believe this is that both Richmond, Wayne Co., IN and Haviland, Kiowa Co., KS (where Nancy Elizabeth [McCASHLAND] STEVENS died) have strong Quaker ties. I hope I'm not throwing out too many names all at once, but I wanted to be sure that readers were certain of the family I'm working on. Thanks for reading this, and thanks in advance for any help you can give me. Bob Hill Arizona
