All I have read so far is what was in his son's obituary in the Sep 4 edition of the Watertown Herlad. http://news.nnyln.net/watertown-herald The obit says that John was from Lowville, NY. It also mentions a brother names Horace from Evans Mills, NY. and 8 children, some of which went west and at the time of the obit lived in Fon du Lac Wisconsin and Souix City, Iowa. This would place this part of the Stevens family along with other branches who headed west about the same time. Since I just discoverd this today I have no further info. Hope this helps.
