    3. Hello Janet, first I wouldn't bet against Edith & William being married. Normally, records weren't kept in the western states. I don't know when ,Whitley, KY began recordkeeping, but it's hard to find any records that survived unless it's a bible record. This might be a clue: Absalom Waller STEPHENS b 1815 d1815 ,Monroe, MO and his father is William STEPHENS & mother Elizabeth Louise NELSON from ,Orange, VA & VA. (Even though Absalom is listed with birthdate & deathdate the same year, he's listed with a wife in 1838 and Jasper 1839; Clinton 1840; Thomas Benton STEPHENS 17 Jul 1841. If you let me know what you can find on this "William & Absalom" idea, I'll do more looking for Absalom tomorrow. Do you have any dates or spouse for your Absalom ? Always, DS On 10/7/07, Janet Wright <jkw46@zianet.com> wrote: > According to her death certificate, Nancy Stevens/Stephens Robinson was born Dec. 2, 1857 daug.of William and Edith Bryant Stevens/Stephens, in Whitley County, KY. I have not found a marriage anywhere in KY of William and Edith. Edith has only been found as Edith Slaughter, and Edith Robinson, suggesting that perhaps she and William were not married after all; however, Edith is found in several census' with her son Absolum Stephens, listed as Edith Robinson, widow (of James Robinson). Nancy Stephens married Thomas Robinson (step son of her mother Edith). She is buried (1935) in East Jacksonville Cemetery, Morgan County, Il. > > Does anyone know anything about this William Stevens/Stephens? > > Thanks you, > Janet Wright > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to STEVENS-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message >
