I've hit a complete dead end on him. The only sources I can find for him are the 1880 U.S. census, listed as R. J. Stevens, head of household, in Mound Valley, Kansas, birthplace showing Maine, around 1845. Father and mother both shown born Maine, but I have no names for either. R. J. was the enumerator of that census district. I know that R.J. was deceased at the time of the 1885 Kansas State census. I have found one other possible reference in the death listings for the Ancient Order of United Workmen in December 1880, name listed as Reignold J. Stevens in Mound Valley, Kansas, but I cannot find surviving records for that time period for the order. I would be grateful if you could see if he is possibly listed in your book. Thank you so much.
