My name is Linda Stevens. I am researching the STEVENS/STEPHENS family of Harrison Co. IN. I descend from: JOHN 1682 Eng. +? JOHN 1708 New York +MARTHA CERGIER JAMES 1746 NY. + REBECCA LAWRENCE WILLIAM 1773 VA. + LAVISA BELL JAMES 1789 VA. + SARAH BRUCE GEORGE B. 1816 IN. + HANNAH THORNBURG + LUCY DAVIS JAMES DAVIS STEVENS 1858 MO. + MARGARET REBECCA PARSONS ROY KLYDE 1887 MO. + HAZEL ABBY SHAW LIVING + BETTY GAULT ME 1947 MO. I believe the family came from England very early on. But the STEPHENS spelling once used is the Welsh spelling. I would also like to prove that the JAMES STEVENS that served in the Rev. War was the JAMES STEVENS NY>Orange Co. VA.>KY>IN. I have a lot of info on this family and would love to exchange with you. Hello Linda, I'm glad to see your post this morning. I guess you've seen the "Stevens / Stephens of Harrison County, Indiana" ? It's great to see so much information in one book, but sadly so much misinformation. I still can't separate facts from "wishful thinking". But, I do have friends in Harrison County that have been helping me for nearly a year. Probably, you know the main problem is the Peter Stephens line also goes thru Harrison County, Indiana and so does a line of Richard Stevens and a German immigrant came up thru New Orleans and changed his name to Stevens. And a few other Stevens came later and every family seems to really like the names John, James, William, Thomas & Benjamin, so it gets really confusing until after they left Harrison County, Indiana. My family moved on to IL>IA>IA>WS>MO. Let's get together, soon. David On Dec 29, 2007 9:46 AM, <Sina28@aol.com> wrote: > > My name is Linda Stevens.
