    3. When & where in Virginia was your Henry Stevens born? When did he go to Kentucky? What are the names of his wife and children. When I started researching our family, I learned that my grandfather, Matison A. Stevens, born in Knox County, Kentucky was the first of our family to use the "Stevens" spelling. His father, Henry Clay Stephens, born in Virginia, used the "Stephens and so did the rest of the family! 3. I believe that Henry Clay Stephens was born about 1810 or 1811 - son of William and maybe Nancy ? - in or near Bedford County. His first wife was Celina (Salina) Martin. I have the names of their children but don't have dates for all. Henry' s name sometimes appears as H.C., Hay C., or just Henry. In 1866 Henry married Virginia Howard in Bedford County. I am assuming that Celina died because some of the younger children moved to Knox County, Kentucky with Virginia and Henry. Virginia and Henry had seven children, among them my grandfather, Matison A. I do have names and dates for these children and for most of their families. I have not posted any of this, because I am waiting for my cousins to verify dates, etc. from their family records.
