Jeremiah and Mehitable married before 1771 and Mehitable died in Salisbury 22 Jul 1791. Children are:Nancy/Anna [1773-1846] who married Joseph Blaisdell; Samuel[ b. 1766], Meriam [b.1769]; Mary [b.1771]; Aphia [b.1775]; Lucy [1777-1832] who married Joshua Moody; Susana [b. 1779]; Jemina [b.1784] who married Daniel Moody Sr. and John [b.1780]. I feel that this family should be connected to Capt. Jeremiah Stevens [1675-1759] also in Salisbury, but I can't seem to make the connection. Can anyone point me in the right direction? Any help on identifying any of these families would be really appreciated. I have no doubt that my Dew STEPHENS is some how related, but I am having a hard putting ANYTHING together on these listed, except for the fact that Sarah STEPHENS, d/o John STEPHENS married Ransom MEADOWS, and that there are two other STEPHENS females in the ancestry of Ransom MEADOWS. ( A Martha STEPHENS and a Wm. STEPHENS). On the 1830 census these Stevens / Stephens are listed: Montgomery County Abraham Stephens Dew Stephens (mine) . Jon. W. Freeman & STEPHENS Lowndes County Pierce Stephens ( 1850 Pontotoc Co., MS) Moses Stephens ( Mississippi 1850) John Stephens Jr Edward Stephens William Stephens None listed with the Stevens spelling 1840 Census Montgomery County James C. Stephens James R. Stephens Pheraby (Pheby?) Stephens Richard Stephens Lowndes County Dew Stephens (1850 Rankin Co., MS) Again none listed with the Stevens spelling I think all or the majority of these are from S. Carolina . I also believe that they tie into the Elisha STEPHENS of Edgefield Co., SC and later Rankin Co., MS. If anyone can shed any information or how all these families connect, I'd really appreciate any help . Thank you Phyllis

I too have a John Lewis Stevens I am hunting for. He was born 1833 in AL. and died 1884 in Grimes Co. TX. His first wife was Angeline Elizabeth Hall and his second wife was Eloise. John and Eloise show up in the 1870 census with Eloise's two children by a previous marriage. John's daughter Nellie married Albert Fuqua . They are my ggrandparents. After my last posting on John--someone on the list kindly showed me a census for Greene Co. AL that listed a John L. Stevens in the household of William and Eleanor Stevens. The dates were right but I can't find proof like a will or marriage record. Marge
I've "rescued" an old photograph of Mae A. STEVENS of Wellesley, Massachusetts. The photograph appears to have been taken about 1900 with Mae likely in her teens at the time it was taken. The photograph was taken at the Warren Studio in Boston, MA. I'm hoping to locate someone from Mae's family so that this wonderful old photograph can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
