Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stevens/3660.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Yes, Henry Middleton Stevens left Kirdford at some point and married Kate Lamboll. He may have left due to the decline in the corn industry there, seeing as his father was an agricultural labourer and Kirdford's main produce was corn until 1875-1900, when it switched to dairy. At any rate, he settled in Hascombe, where they had 5 children - Harry (1900), who died in WWI, George (1901), Arthur (1904), Rene (1906) and my Great Grandfather, Philip (14th January 1907-23rd April 1999), who was born almost exactly 100 years ago. Philip married Hilda Waller (23rd February 1905-19th November 2002) of Hascombe and they had 7 children, the second oldest of whom, Donald Stevens (1927) is my Grandfather. 3. Folks, this is a reminder that any post to a list that starts with the phrase "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." has been "gatewayed" from the surname Board to the surname List. Simply, this means that the original post was sent, in this case, to the STEVENS Board and, because the "gateway" between the Board and List has been opened, was also automatically re-sent to the STEVENS List. BUT, this means that unless the original Board poster is also a member of the List (and most are not), any replies to a gatewayed post sent to the List will NOT be seen by the Board poster. If you wish to reply to a gatewayed post in such a way that your reply will be seen by the Board poster, you must do so by clicking on the "Message Board URL:" link, and reply using the Board response system. Thanks. Peter STEVENS List Admin.
