What was written by Huntington, was that Thomas was a landholder as early as 1641. I've never seen anything that said he moved there then. If so, I would dearly like to know where he moved FROM. There was a John Stevens who lived in Stamford from a much earlier date, and it is speculated that John may be a relation, even a father to Thomas. The James and Thomas you mention, are not part of my family, they are part of the family of John Stevens, b.1682 in England. If there is a connection to my family, I am not aware of it. It would be very interesting if you did take part in the dna study to find out if we are a genetic match. I'd also like to point out that www.SMGF.org does dna testing for free. My family website is stevensfamilytree.ca. You'll see all I know about my family there. Barb Stevens Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I thought I would add what I know regarding this person. Jehiel Stevens had 2 Children that moved to Michigan near 1834 time frame. Amos Wiley Stevens and George H Stevens. My Great-Great-Great Grandfather was George H Stevens. His entire family from him to my grandfather are all buried in Springport Cemetary north of Greenbush Michigan on US 23. All of the family that is related to him from 1850 is also buried there, including his son George T Stevens. George T had his first son named Guy Duncan Stevens, which is my grandfather, and my father was Clifford Guy Stevens. I have spent the last 2 years trying very hard to complete my family tree, but I have continued to have a road block regarding Jehiel being my exact relative. I use Ancestry.Com and RootsWeb and almost every article I read has Jehiel being a son of Moses Stevens from Poundridge NY and Jehiel having his 2 sons George and Amos in Virgil NY. My Issue is if this is true, why is there no exact information to tie Moses to anyone. I have found many articles stating Moses was the Son of Daniel Stevens of Stamford CT which is the 4th generation of the famous Thomas Stevens Descendants, but the birth dates for Moses seem to be near 1753 which was 2 years after Daniel Died?? If anyone has any "New" Information regarding this, please let me know at uofmmike_2000@yahoo.com or michael.r.stevens@navy.mil. I am working hard to finish the family tree before anything happens to my father, he is 73 and would love to know exactly why his father always said, you are English, Scottish, and Irish...but English will always be first haha!! Any Info would be greatly appreciated, thanks Mike. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Folks, this is a reminder that any post to a list that starts with the phrase "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." has been "gatewayed" from the surname Board to the surname List. Simply, this means that the original post was sent, in this case, to the STEVENS Board and, because the "gateway" between the Board and List has been opened, was also automatically re-sent to the STEVENS List. BUT, this means that unless the original Board poster is also a member of the List (and most are not), any replies to a gatewayed post sent to the List will NOT be seen by the Board poster. If you wish to reply to a gatewayed post in such a way that your reply will be seen by the Board poster, you must do so by clicking on the "Message Board URL:" link, and reply using the Board response system. Thanks. Peter STEVENS List Admin. I too am a descendant of a Hiram Stevens through his son Ernest and would also enjoy exchanging any information on this family.
