    1. [STEVENS] David Stevens, descendent of Obediah Stevens
    2. Jane Olsen
    3. Hi David, of david@stevens-turner.com, Are you the same David Stevens who sent me the descendent chart for Obediah Stevens? We, descendents of Hanson Stevens (from Indiana to Iowa to Oregon, arriving in 1852), finally finished our book and published it. I would like to give you our descendent charts, if you would still like them, but I have lost track of you. If you are he or if anyone on this list knows where he is, please let me know. 1. [STEVENS] Help with STEVENS/BAMFORD please
    2. Maree Posthuma
    3. Hi everyone, I have tried to find the birth of Stephen STEVENS who married Martha BAMFORD in 1771 Middlesex. I am also trying to find Martha's birth. I know that Stephen STEVENS was a calico printer from Beddington, Surrey as it was stated on his son's marriage certificate. His son being John STEVENS. I have not been able to find any other siblings for John either. John was born West Ham, Essex. They seem to have moved around a bit LOL. Any help or advice finding Stephen STEVENS or Martha BAMFORD will be much appreciated. Regards Maree

I am not ordering as he is not from my line. http://www.izaak.unh.edu/specoll/mancoll/wpahabs1.htm Jan

    3. Thanks Peter, By the look of it, GMail automatically chopped off the older bits like some other mail programs do, but now I see it just hides them and the subject names. Jan, I show the following children for John STEVENS Sr & Alice ATKINS: Jane 2 Jan 1602; Lt John 7 Jul 1605; Humphrey c1608; Barbara 11 Sep 1611; William 1 Sep 1616; Susan c1617. I am glad you are doing the historical research on this family. New info is being added online every day. I'd really like to sort out this Stevens family and all other families as well. And thanks for your feedback to me. My db now contains your data. 3. David For now, we don't know which Samuel Stevens that Rachel Heath married as there are differing birth dates. The University of NH library special collections has a will of Nathaniel Stevens and some deeds. I sent an inquiry as to the date on it. It may be the Nathaniel who married Mary Lawrence and Sarah Folsom. I'm hoping it is their father. I have Lieut. John Stevens (1639-1689) marriages at Andover, Mass. VRs 13 Jun 1662 to Hannah Barnard; 10 Aug 1676 to Esther Barker. Who are the six children of John Stevens and Alice Atkins? 3. Jan, I do have Mehitable COLCORD & I do have Samuel with the date you found. Also, I show John (husband of Esther BARKER) & Samuel (husband of Mehitabel) as sons of Lt John STEVENS & Elizabeth PARKER. (I also show another possible mother as Catherine / Katherine CODMAN) And, either John Jr had 7 wives or somebody has mixed up several different John STEVENS'. Then I show Lt John STEVENS' as John STEVENS Sr & Alice ATKINS. (Of Caversham, Oxford, ENG) I show 6 children for John & Alice. 1. [STEVENS] Samuel Stevens Will
    2. Jan Waugh
    3. David, The Early Vital Records of Essex County, Mass. Salisbury Births pg 226 lists a birth of 18 Jan 1680 for Samuel Stevens. Birth for Rachel Heath agrees. I will, for now, mark his birth date as conflicted. And please correct the death date to 1751 (not 1753), probate date. You will be happy to learn that you have the name of one of their sons. I marked in my files Samuel (mar. Heath) as my last sure ancestor, but I suspect that his parents were Nathaniel STEVENS and Mehitable COLCORD. I have seen other records listing his parents as John STEVENS and Esther BARKER. I show a birthdate for Samuel as 29 May 1677 Andover, Essex, MA - (died before 1720) Rachel HEATH STEVENS 23 Jul 1682 Haverhill, Essex, MA In part, because my genealogy program makes people disappear and because too many people link their great grandfather to lines like this (rather that continue calling it a "dead end" or "brick wall"), I show only one son, Samuel STEVENS Jr 28 Nov 1710) What other names & dates do you have ? 3. Hello. I have found two references to my ancestor Bradstreet STEVENS (1787-1870) being a "cousin" of Thaddeus STEVENS (1792-1868). The Oberlin.edu site where Bradstreet relocated to (Oberlin, Ohio) called them cousins and a Dodge web-site said they were of the same line. I am trying to establish whether they are truly related. Both Bradstreet and Thaddeus were active in the Anti-Slavery movement; Thaddeus was a Congressman in Washington, D.C. and Bradstreet's son Ezra and grandson Durham were active in D.C. politics. (Durham White STEVENS was assassinated by a Korean national in San Francisco.) Various bios on Thaddeus list his parents as Joshua STEVENS (c1759/c1767-c1812) of Methuen, Mass. and Sarah MORRILL. Bradstreet STEVENS is from the line of Samuel STEVENS (1680-1753) and Rachael HEATH. > Nehemiah (1713- ) > Francis (1746- ) > Bradstreet. I may be missing children of Nehemiah. Author: Sassy2cu1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stevens/780.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Since this posting I have since found more information on my Grandparents. My mother's mother was Annie Lee Hawthorne Stevens and her father was William Franklin Stevens of Holmes County, Florida. Annie Lee's parents were Martha Emma Posey-Hawthorne-Whitehead and J. Andrew Hawthorne. She also married Make Whitehead. William Franklin Stevens parents were supposedly Charles or Charlie Stevens and Emma Jane Mixon. It is very confusing due to the 1900 census listing William Franklin and his sister Lota as Mixon's. Then in the 1910 census it lists William Franklin as a Stevens. Lota had married Oscar Walker. Charlie and Emma Jane were married June 17, 1904. I tend to believe Emma Jane might have been married to a John D. Mixon of Henry County, Alabama. If anyone has any information to substiate this, or might put me on the right path, I would greatly appreciate it. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
