My husband and I were just up in Sanilac county and came across your name in the Deckerville Library geneology sign in book. My husband is also a Steven's descendant through Sarah Deborah Stevens d/o Jonathon B. Stevens and Lois Wixon. I managed to get quite a bit of information while I was up there. Did you go to the Sandusky Library? They had several things on Senaca. Did you find the information on him being in the war? I did happen to copy all of that. Otherwise, I don't really have much on him. We did also find out where the family cemetary is on Lakeshore. Have you been there? If so, do you happen to know who else is buried there? Hope to hear from you. Tina Richards Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. I know in several of my lines there were large families with 10 siblings being common. Consequences are that you have many children in one generation that have the same names. If this tradition was not upheld it would have been that the person the child was named after was held in high esteem within the family. I am speaking more so 1600-mid 1800's. It seems the more mobile society became and therefore families became separated the less likely this tradition carried on. There are records on the internet which seem to indicate that they were married in 1792 in Granville, New York. At that time Roger was aged 31 and Esther was aged 12 yrs, 9 months. I haven't been able to find that marriage documentation. I did find where Esther the daughter of Amos and Lydia Snow was b. September 16, 1774 which places her about 18 years of age. This birth recording is in the History of Cornish, Sullivan County, New Hampshire, page 348. So far, I've seen reference that other children of Amos and Lydia, are Amos, Jr. Molly, and Rufus. Any additional information on these families would be greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Alfred Stevens in St. Mary's Parish, LA, was probably the son of my 2nd GGF, also Alfred. If so, he didn't survive to adulthood. I don't know when he died, but the only child of that marriage that did make it was the third and last, Charles Frederick Stevens. Folks, this is ANOTHER reminder that any post to a list that starts with the phrase "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." has been "gatewayed" from the surname Board to the surname List. Simply, this means that the original post was sent, in this case, to the STEVENS Board and, because the "gateway" between the Board and List has been opened, was also automatically re-sent to the STEVENS List. BUT, this means that unless the original Board poster is also a member of the List (and most are not), any replies to a gatewayed post sent to the List will NOT be seen by the Board poster. If you wish to reply to a gatewayed post in such a way that your reply will be seen by the Board poster, you must do so by clicking on the "Message Board URL:" link, and reply using the Board response system. Thanks. Peter STEVENS List Admin.
