Author: sunshinemarti Surnames: Stevens Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stevens/4188/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am hitting a brick wall, as seems like so many researching a STEVENS line do. I can come forward, but not back. Any help if you know this line of STEVENS please. Charles Ernest Stevens 1917 - 1986 born Red River County Tx Mother: Martha Emma McDougle Born mississippi 1897 Father: Charles Oliver Stevens Born Ok c.1890 Grandfather: John Stevens South Carolina Grandmother: Rose or Rosa unknown I know it is not a lot of information, but it is all I can find. My Father (Charles E,Stevens) didn't even know this much. Somewhere in the past for Charles Oliver's Mother (Rose) she was married to a Denny. Divorced when still Pregnate with Charles Oliver and Married John Stevens. Gets confusing. So Really My line would be the Denny's but have only known Stevens all my life. Any way, would sure like to hear from someone who might have a connection and more information on this family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: NilaColeman55 Surnames: Stevens Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.stevens/3462.2.2.1.2/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My Stevens family oral history reports that three brothers came from England and were given a land grant which was 1000 acres on Kent Island, Maryland (site of Stevensville). The land grant was Love Point. They were boat builders. An estate was left in England, where two of the brothers returned to settle the estate. They did not return to Maryland. My ancestor's name was JOHN TOPHAM STEVENS. For unknown reasons, he left Kent Island and landed in Rock Hall, Md. The land grant date was 1665. We have remained in the area since that time. Could you be the lost ancestors who settle in New England? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. My mother was Ines Shelton Maddox and she had three brothers and they were Chester Shelton from Columbus Ohio and Roy Shelton from Cincinnati Ohio and Reverend Raymond Shelton from High Point North Carolina. 3. Folks, this is a reminder that any post to a list that starts with the phrase "This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list." has been "gatewayed" from the surname Board to the surname List. Simply, this means that the original post was sent, in this case, to the STEVENS Board and, because the "gateway" between the Board and List has been opened, was also automatically re-sent to the STEVENS List. BUT, this means that unless the original Board poster is also a member of the List (and most are not), any replies to a gatewayed post sent to the List will NOT be seen by the Board poster. If you wish to reply to a gatewayed post in such a way that your reply will be seen by the Board poster, you must do so by clicking on the "Message Board URL:" link, and reply using the Board response system. Thanks. Peter STEVENS List Admin. Those Happy Glatz's wrote: >I've heard suggestions that "my" David Stevens & his sister Olive Stevens of Pittsfield were related to the Killingworth Stevenses.
