Hi list, Looking for Information on these STEPHENS/STEVENS. Both spellings were used on different documents. I am fairly certain (but have not yet been able to confirm it yet) that Dew STEPHENS came with his family from Edgefield Co., SC., to possibly Green or Franklinn Co., GA. to Montgomery Co., Alabama, as Dew/Due STEPHENS does appear on 1830 Montgomery Co., AL. census , 1840 Lowndes Co., AL. census, 1850 Rankin Co., MS. census, and 1860 Ashley Co., AR. census. from Ashley Co., AR. they seem to have spread out and I have lost them from there except for Duncan/Dew STEPHENS Jr. James and John STEPHENS may have fought in the CW as I have not been able to positively identify them on 1870 census. James STEPHENS b. 1837 Montgomery/Lowndes Co., AL 4. Susan STEPHENS b. 1838 Montgomery/Lowndes Co., AL ( moved to LA.Union Parish, LA. and on to Henderson Co., TX.) marr: _________ WATSON 5. John STEPHENS b. 1840 Lowndes Co., AL. 6. Francis STEPHENS b. 1843 Lowndes Co., AL. 7. Jesse STEPHENS b. 1847 Lowndes Co., AL. 8.
