Muncie, Ind., March 9. --- David A. (Uncle Dave) Stephens, 90, widely known Delaware county resident, died at 10 o'clock Saturday morning at his home, two miles northeast of Selma. He had lived on the same farm for sixty years. Surviving are two daughters, Miss Ora Stephens at home, and Miss Mae Stephens, a teacher at Kendallville high school; three brothers, William Stephens of Parker and John and James Stephens, both of Jamestown, Ohio; one sister, Mrs. Violet Hitchcock of Farmland; three grandsons, Gailon Stephens, Delaware county coroner, Raymond Wood of Parker and Merrill Stephens of Pennville; two granddaughters, Mrs. Edith Corbin, of Richmond and Miss May Wood of Three Rivers, Mich., and one great granddaughter, Joyce Corbin of Richmond. Funeral services will be conducted at the Potter-Stephens funeral home at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. Rev. Arthur W. McDavitt, pastor of St. Johns Universalist church, in charge. Burial will in Strong Cemetery. Union City Times-Gazette, Saturday, June 14, 1941 Darke Co. woman is stroke victim; rites to be Sunday. Mrs. Edna (Boze) Stephens, 77, widow of the late David Stephens, of Ansonia, died Friday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Raymond Sharp, eight miles southeast of Union City on the Winchester-Greenville road. Death was attributed to the effects of a paralytic stroke which she suffered three weeks ago. Mrs. Stephens, a daughter of the late David and Madeline Boze, was born in Jackson township, O., and had spent her entire life in Darke county. She and her husband resided at Ansonia until his death in 1930, since which time she had made her home with her children and other relatives. She was a member of the Ansonia Christian church. She is survived by one son, John Stephens, of Williamsburg, Ind.; three daughters, Mrs. Raymond Sharp, Greenville rural route, Mrs. Georgianna Scoffield, Chicago, Ill., and Mrs. Margaret Peck, of Springfield, Ohio; one step-son, Dr. C. I. Stephens, Ansonia; 15 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. There also are three brothers, Jake Boze, of Jackson township, and Sam Boze, Brown township, and two sisters, Mrs. Mollie Martz and Mrs. Margaret Ketrow, both of Springfield, Ohio. The remains have been returned to the Sharp residence where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted there at 2 o'clock (EST) Sunday with Rev. Martin Wagner officiating. Burial will be in the Teegarden cemetery.
