Appears on following census: 1830 Montgomery Co., AL. 1840 Lowndes Co., AL. 1850 Rankin Co., MS. 1860 Ashley Co., AR. Also a James B. Stephens appears on 1830, 1840, census in Montgomery & Lowndes Counties AL. and in 1850 on Lowndes Co., AL. Same age group, also born in SC. Children of Dew STEPHENS and Jane HARDY are: 1.) Mary Stephens b. 1828 AL. marr: George Jones probably in Mississippi about 1855/56 Children of G.Jones & Mary Stephens are: (1870 Union Parish, LA.) Cato? 1857 AR Caleb 1860 AR Anna? 1858 AR Lenora 1867 AR Eliza 1870 LA 2.) Parlina Stephens b. 1835 AL. (had not married by 1870) 3.) James Stephens b. 1837 AL. 4.)
