Hello group, I am searching for the parents of William Frank STEPHENS and not having much luck. Included below is what information I do know on this family. William Frank STEPHENS born January 29, 1866 supposedly in Whitley county Kentucky. Died July 17, 1927 in Rockcastle county Kentucky. Buried in Skaggs Creek cemetery Rockcastle county Kentucky. William married Josephine PRICE on August 11, 1884 in Pulaski county Kentucky. (source Pulaski county marriage records) They had the following children: 1. Grace - birthdate unknown - (married Louey Inabnitt) 2. Charlie R. Apr 13, 1889-Sep 1, 1957 (married Matilda A.) 3. Valerie A. "Laura" Sep 9, 1891-Sep 17, 1981 (married James E. Calhoun) 4. William Thomas May 6, 1895-Jan 14, 1969 (married Lula Payne) 5. James Richard born Mar 30, 1898 in Dahl, Pulaski County, Kentucky - died Nov 18, 1977 (married Bessie Mae Marler) 6. Lola Nov 3, 1905-Mar 1, 1963 (married Charles Marler) 7. Harve Lester Sep 24, 1907-Jan 7, 1994 (married Rosa Robbins) 8. Elmer Wilson Stephens Born March 26, 1910 Died Sept. 16, 1984 Buried Forest Lawn Cemetary, Greenwood, Indiana (married Buelah Mae McClure) 9. twin girls born Jun 6, 1913: Jessie Elizabeth (married Walter Vance) died Jan 19, 1992 and Sara (married Edd McClure) died Nov. 30, 1989. William Frank STEPHENS parents names are supposedly: father: Richard STEPHENS (supposedly from Whitley county Kentucky) mother: Keelan STEELE (supposedly from Whitley county Kentucky) I have not been able to find Richard or Keelan on any documentation so I am relying on family folklore. It is also believed that Keelan STEELE was Cherokee indian. Hopefully someone on the list may have information on this family. Best wishes, Frank Gruber

Hello Frank...... I've done some poking around and cannot locate your family in the 1900 & 1910 Census...... I believe that the Franklin STEPHAN's listed in the LDS 1880 Census is your William Frank STEPHENS....... I have tried various spellings of the surname STEPHENS, STEVAN, STEVANS, STEVENS, STEVEN, STEPHEN, STEPHAN, STEAPHENS, STEAVEN....... I also have the 1910 Kentucky Miracode index and have tried various given names and nothing seems to come up...... It appears that your family might have moved around alot in the Laurel, Whitley, Pulaski and Rockcastle County areas or the Census Taker didn't come up their road...... Have you been able to locate a death certificate and/or obit for William........ Since William died after 1920 there should be one available........
