My maiden name is STEPHENS which invariably always had to be spelled out at least to the "P" or it would have been written as STEVENS. In researching my STEPHENS / STEVENS I too have found both spellings in association with the same given names as in most of my surnames I have researched are. Can not do proper research without looking into all spellings or I would never have found my gr-grandfather and his parents. My dad and his two brothers, Philip, Delton, & Allison, were ALL nick named STEVE. My brother's given name is STEVE. BUT my given name is another matter. It is NEVER spelled correctly and it gets bad when your own family misspell it. Still looking for DEW STEPHENS / STEVENS b. 1802/ SC / GA Phyllis
