Good morning. My earliest Stephens/Stevens researched is John Alexander Stephens born 12/11/1811 reportedly in Loudoun County, Va, possibly Leesburg. The only marriage found for him was in 1839 when he was 28 years old to Roxanna aka Roseanna Burgess who was born in Fairfax, Va in 1822. John was first listed as a farmers helper, painter then construction. As far as most census show, they remained in Loudoun. They lived at times on the Murphy Shumate farm, and on the Fulton Farms. They had several children, Martha, Fanny (Frances?), John W. (William?), Robert T (Thomas?), Thomas Lee Mason, an at one time a Columbus was listed, Mary Catherine who married into the Quaker Greggs. Other names associated were Lowe, Ford, Claggett, Bouic, Ault/Alt, Frame, Mathers(?). I have found that Mathers may be the mothers maiden name of Roxanna Burgess. Mathers seem to be attached to the Brooks family. Looking for any holes in the brick wall. Thanks. Brenda Stevens-Scott
