    1. Stephens-Stevens SURNAME project at FTDNA - 06/15/2005
    2. Lowe DNA
    3. List.... We have 37 men in our Stephens-Stevens Surname project with 31 DNA test kits returned and several in process. And 30 Stephens-Stevens results posted at YSEARCH from FTDNA. http://www.ysearch.org/lastname_start.asp?uid= We have been able to find DNA matches that are really significant. One in particular are 4 men from the Joshua Stephens family lineage in Johnson County, North Carolina. We also found a match for these 4 men with a Stephens from Scotland; and, located two more Stephens, Stevens men from Texas and Idaho that were not even aware that they belonged to this Stephens lineage from colonial North Carolina. We also matched my wife's Stephens Uncle with another Stephens man in Mississippi. Both of our Stephens go back to a David Stephens born about 1790 in the Carolinas. This is the first new break through in our Stephens genealogical research in 15 years. We have recorded at YSEARCH 4 "ancient lineages" or haplogroups and 5 unknowns: E3b........(2) R1b........(20) I..........(2) I1b........(1) Unknown....(5) It is clear that we have a mixture of ancient haplogroups in our Stephens-Stevens project and that finding kinships thru DNA matching will help document their family history. Our major goals are to find Stephens-Stevens kin, validate and verify genealogical lineages, and to find the European, Asian or African homeland of our participants.
