    1. Benjamin Stephens, Miller, Earhart, Bechtel, Haugher, Bedford Co., PA 1700s
    2. David G. Miller
    3. My Miller line is the most elusive family I have ever traced. I have great hopes that he was a Brethren and someone on the list can lead me to my family. My Millers (George C. Miller) (1796-1882) lived in Greene Co., OH. According to Greene Co. History books, his mother was Ruth Stephens who was widowed and brought 7 children to Greene Co. (about 1809) from near Pittsburgh, PA. Through much research, I now know that Ruth's father was Benjamin Stephens of Bethel Twp, Bedford (later Fulton) Co. PA and that she married a John Miller. Anne Young wrote this summer that she was researching her Earhart family from that area and found a land deed that said John Earhart's land was adjacent to Benjamin Stephens and wanted to exchange information. I looked in my files and found a will for a George Miller (of Bethel Twp.,) that made a bequest to his stepdaughter, Mary Earhart"! This George had sons George, John and Jacob and would have lived abt 1730?-1777. My George had a brother, Jacob and a sons, John and George so the names and time frame fit. Also in the 1798 Tax list of Fulton Co. it shows that Jacob Betchtel and Samuel Bachtel were neighbors of Benjamin Stephens. Then I found the Brethren Millers of PA and MD. Brethren Michael Miller and Susannah Bechtel are a great possibility for ancestors of this George Miller. But I can't fit the older George into the Brethren Michael Miller line. I thought maybe he was a son of Elder George Miller, son of Michael and Susannah, but can find no evidence of that. Can anyone help? I would love to discuss any possibilities.
