-------------- Forwarded Message: -------------- From: patabill@comcast.net To: GATAYLOR-L@rootsweb.com (GATAYLOR-L Archives) Subject: Phillippi Church minutes Date: Sat, 27 Nov 2004 15:10:51 +0000 I have read with interest the Harris Hill transcription of the Phillippi Primitive Baptist Church minutes. I submit the following,re:Seaborn Riley Stephens was a 1st sargeant,Co B,46th Ga Inf,a/k/a the Schley County Rifles. He was wounded at Jonesboro,Ga. on Sept 1,1864,and died of his wounds on Sept,5,1864..Seaborn's younger brother,Thomas J Stephens, was also with the Schley Rifles, and was killed at Jackson,Miss May 14,1863. Seaborn R. was my G-grandfather,and the father of Jonathan L Stephens,b.10/17/1856,m.Ella B Thompson,at home, Butler ,Ga. 03/29/1885..My Grandfather,J.L. is buried at Newnan,Ga Cemetery,,Grandmother Ella is buried at Cokes Chapel,Coweta County. Of further interest is that Seaborn's other four brothers were with Co.E,6th Reg,Crawford County Greys: John B-killed at ColesFarm,Va. Charles Inman-killed at Bentonville,NC Wiley Green-killed at Drewrys Bluff,Va. William M-severely wounded at Bentonville, discharged at Greensboro,NC,-later died of his wounds in Ga.,but do not know where. He married Mary Emiline Hobbs, who died 08/26/1872 in Schley County, per records of Phillippi Church records.. I am still searching for the burial spots for Inman and Susannah Hobbs Stephens--both died in Taylor County 1850-1855. Also for any record of Inman's mother,Priscilla ,and her husband,UNK. Stephens..Last record I have of Priscilla is 1850 census, age 75,living in household of Inman. My Stephens research has been severely hampered by the premature deaths of the six Stephens brothers, but continue to reseach any leads I can get. William J Stephens
