    3. List members... FTDNA DNA testing in Houston let us know that three of our Stephens men match 23/25 and 25/25 DNA markers. Two of them are definitely related back to Joshua Stephens from Laurens, South Carolina... I believe they are a happy bunch this morning as these Stephens researchers have now validated and verified their paper lineage(s) and now have a standard set of 25 DNA markers that they can rely on to find other related Stephens cousins in America and Europe. One of these three men has his lineage documented back to "Ephurum Stephens born between 1625-1728 in Marlinfornd, Norfolk, Scotland". So we might have a common link back to Scotland. Now they must find the divergence point(s) in their common lineages. Wanted to share this with the list as our DNA matching project is helping Stephens genealogists find their roots. Happy Thanksgiving to all. Bill Bailey, San Antonio, Texas, 78258 Stephens-Stevens men's DNA testing project.

    3. Congratulations to all who had matches in the DNA project. We immediately went to our files to see if our ancestors might connect, but found no connections. But...I want to take this opportunity to once again ask if anyone can connect with John Stephens and Amory Peyton. No dates or places for births, but their son, William Stepens was born 1745 in Rockingham County, NC We have no direct male descendant for DNA but we are glad for those who do.... 3. I'm so envious! I'm descended from a William Stephens, living in Louisiana at the beginning of the 1800's. He had a son, John Vachell Stephens, whose only son died as a boy. So there's no way to use the DNA testing to find out where William is connected to other Stephens. But more and more is coming out about these lines all the time, and I have hopes of finding out just where my William came from.
