    1. [STEPHENS] William & Eunice (Howell?) Stephens, CT & NY

    3. Greetings, all! My Stephens line through my mother's paternal ancestors: William Stephens, b. 1745, CT, and Eunice (Howell?) Stephens, b. 1744 NY, lived in CT when their sons, George and John (twins) were born in 1775, but moved to a property near Duanesburg, NY soon thereafter. Other known children were Phillip Lanson Stephens and Hugh C. Stephens. I believe William may have had several brothers, including a Samuel and John. In 1797, George mar. Serah Wood, b. Feb., 1780, CT., and lived in Duanesburg, Syracuse, and Camillus, NY where he was a carpenter and house painter. Their children: Clarissa, Alfred, Charlotte, Samuel, George, Walter, Serah, Vashti, Joseph, Joseph Madison and twin William Harrison, Maria, and Matilda. George and Serah Stephens' son, William Harrison Stephens, mar. Ruama Randall, daughter of Joshua Randall and Sarah Smith, in Wayne Co., MI, 1836; they lived in WI for a few years where he was a furniture maker, then moved to Winnebago Co., IL. William went on to the California gold fields in 1848, and died there one year later. Their children: Serah, Henry, George, William Harrison, Arminda, and Smith Alva. Wm H. I's son, William Harrison Stephens II, lived in IL, then moved to Sherman Co., Nebraska, after marrying Anna Thoresen, a Norwegian immigrant, in 1872. I believe they made a stopover in Iowa to visit Stephens relatives on their way to Nebraska. This William H. Stephens is my gr-gr-grandfather. I am trying, in particular, to find confirmation on the "original" William and Eunice's parentage, but will share any information I have on my Stephens line. Shirley Schall, Nebraska.
