    1. [STEPHENS] galand lotteries
    2. Bill Stephens
    3. I am still looking for the father and mother of Inman and Susannah Stephens, my GG grandparents. Inman and Susannag are listed on the 1850 Upson County,ga. census, along with their children, and Priscilla, shown as age 75. Piscilla is shown as a recipient on three Ga land lotteries: 1821 Jones County, with children shown as orphans. 1827 drew land in Coweta County(husband abs) ,LL 242,sec 5 1835 drewland in Upson as a widow,District 14,Sec l. Priscilla must have been an eligible widow in all three lotteries, probably as a widow of a Rev War Vet. Question: Is there any mention in the above land lotteries,or deeds, that she was a widow of a specific Stephens vet? Would appreeciate any look ups that anyone could do to locate my GGG grandfather. 3. Hello:) Cathleen! Glad to hear from you...glad that things are going with you and the boys...somethimes we have to stand our ground...I had to put Dianne out twice...she, and I have had our differences.. and so, now when they make their mistakes...or what ever..they'll have to do the best that they can... I love both of my girls and I would even die for them...but, I won't be ran over by them or disrepected by them in my own home...they, don't want me giving advice...so, I don't...but, on the other hand when they want to do as they please...they need not come crying on my shoulder...needing me and thier dad to bail them out... Since I was sick that time...my nerves and my diabetic condition won't let me go thru anymore...when Ramona was here and we had our big disagreement...and I only wanted to talk to her and find out what was going on and she informed me in no uncertain terms..that she was over 21 and didn't have to listen to me...I came home from work one night and Wilbur was so upset that I was afraid that he was going to have a heart attack...he has high blood pressure as it is...and then my sugar went sky high....and they didn't even care that they had hurt Wilbur or me real bad...so, now I don't ask any questions and I don't want to hear any complaints from them... When you do all you can do for your children and then in your on home they show you just how much that they appreciate what you have done for them...I'm thru and so is Wilbur... I can't take the worry anymore...If Wilbur and I don't take care of ourselves, there is no one else to do it for us...We've have done more for our girls than my parents have ever done for me... The last time Dianne came here for help I helped and then she started a fight with me..and I know that my blood sugar went thru the roof then...at least she apoligized that time...but, Ramona, has yet to say I'm sorry Momma...so, until...she can say I'm sorry...I don't see how she can expect her Uncle William to say I'm sorry...and it still hurts..although, we get along ...I don't know if I'll ever get over how Ramona talked to me that day...I would never have thought that she would have hurt me and her dad so bad...but, I guess that's all under the bridge...I love them...but, sometimes I would love for my fam...to be able to tell the other member that they are sorry... After all it's really to late when someone is lying in their casket.... I want to get along with my girls...but, I would like for them to call and see how we're doing and to remember our Mothers Day & Fathers Day...or our BirthDays...just to call and say HappyBirthday or Happy Father's Day,,or Mother's Day...I don't think that I am asking for to much...but, I guess they'll never change...and I guess I' need not to expect it from them... I'm glad that Brad and Valree are married...I truly hope that they will be happy and content with each other...and that my great nephew is doing fine... I haven't forgotten the pic...I promise that I'm going to get them to you soon..,.. Well, guess I'll go for now...and please don't tell the girls anything that I write to you...PLEASE.. Give the baby a kiss and hug for me...No, I didn't know abt. Williams surgery...maybe he'll quit smoking now... Well, I'll go for now..take care and We Love You....:) God Bless & Keep You! 1. [STEPHENS] George & Sarah Stephens - Orange Co NY 1850
    2. Harman Clark
    3. The 1850 Census for the Town of Crawford, Orange Co., NY includes: Sarah Stephens 41 F Caroline Stephens 17 F William J. Stephens 15 M Jacob H. Stephens 14 M Cornelia Stephens 7 F Granville Stephens 5 M Theodore Stephens 3 M >From records of the Reformed Dutch Church of Berea, Orange Co., NY, it appears that Caroline, William, Jacob and Cornelia were baptized in that Church on 12 September 1843, the children of George and Sarah Stephens. It would also appear, since George is not in the 1850 Census, that he MAY have died between the period just prior to the birth of Theodore and the taking of the 1850 Census. It also appears that Granville Stephens may have married Sarah L. Puff on 5 May 1868 in the Presbyterian Church at Hamptonburgh, Orange Co., NY "Smith" is the middle name of both Granville and Caroline, which could be a clue that the mother, Sarah, was a Smith. Can anyone supply anything more on this family? Who was George? Marriages of any of the other children? Migration? etc. Harman R. Clark P.O. Box 311 Sheffield, VT 05866-0311 hrclarkjr@kingcon.com

Unfortunately he didn't live for a couple of hundred years. He also seems to have lost track of some of his migrating relatives. He listed Nathan born 31 May 1788 in Renssalear County, NY married Eliza Robbins born 25 Dec 1793 in MA. He listed their children, but no other information on them. In 1840 Nathan and family were in Illinois, and in 1850 they were in Michigan. In 1850 and 1860 Harris and Susan were in Michigan and in 1870 they were in Illinois. I cannot find them in 1880. In 1880 Arthur and his sister Eva were in Minnesota. I would be extremely grateful to anyone who can provide additional information for these people, including parents of spouses, and siblings, etc.. We don't even have dates of birth or death for Harris or Susan. Absolutely any info would be welcome. I have gotten this far and cannot seem to fill in the blanks. 3. I don't remember if I have posted this query but hope some-one catches it and knows some of the names and facts. Little River Co., Arkansas: These Stephens are listed with step-father's surname, ( JEAN(S) ) in 1880. Enoch b. 1868, William b. 1868 (probably more a 1869 thru 1872 DOB instead), John b. 1873 and Allen b. 1875. Earlier last fall I queried for a Sales STEPHENS b. 1875/1878 on several occassions. .I have since proven Sales Stephens as the brother to my Enoch STEPHENS through a marriage record . Sales STEPHENS is actually J. A. STEPHENS who married Martha DICKENS in 1895. By 1900 Martha died and he remarried to a Lillie Brownfield. Is John and Allen one in same person and accidently was enumerated as two? Does J. stand for John or James? Marriage records of that era also show: S. Stevens to Mittie Ludlow 1889 Richard Stephens to Lucy Marks 1900 Willie Stephens to Sallie Hambleton 1890 Ben Stephens to Lizzie Blanchard 1904 I have had no luck finding these Stephens on the census. Some information from another researcher shows a sibling of Enoch's as " Bud STEPHENS". No other information. Could Bud actually be Ben? There are also two half brothers of these Stephens sibligs I seek, Sam W. JEANS and John R. JEANS. I have written letters to descendants of Sam W. Jeans with no response. Would really appreciate any help if anyone recognizes any of these names and can shed some light on this family. This Enoch Stephens is the grandson of Dew Stephens I also seek information on. 3. I believe it was Harold Stephens that stated his Stephens were in Green Co., Georgia? Am I correct Harold ? The reason I ask: In trying to find parents and siblings of my Dew STEPHENS I have also been trying to trace Reddick P. Stevens/Stephens b. 1806 SC. He followed a similar path of my Dew Stephens with the exception of Alabama, and both appear on the Ashley Co., Ark. census of 1860. Reddick P. Stephens time line: 1830 Green Co., GA. > 1840 Carroll Co., MS.> Attala Co., MS. >1860 Ashley Co., AR Dew Stephens time line: 1830 Montgomery Co., AL.>1840 Lowndes Co., AL.> 1850 Rankin Co., AL.>1860 Ashley Co., AR. Note* Dew Stephens married Jane/Jincey HARDY in Montgomery Co., AL. The Hardy family is from Edgefield Co., SC. and were also in Montgomery & Lowndes Co., AL. which could be the difference. I do not know where Reddick P. Stephens wife, Trecie WADE is from other than SC as is also Reddick P. Stephens himself. So if anyone knows anything about Reddick P. Stephens that could help, I'd really appreciate it. Maybe one day I will tie these Stephens together. Phyllis plsk3649@swtexas.net

    3. Hi list, Looking for Information on these STEPHENS/STEVENS. Both spellings were used on different documents. I am fairly certain (but have not yet been able to confirm it yet) that Dew STEPHENS came with his family from Edgefield Co., SC., to possibly Green or Franklinn Co., GA. to Montgomery Co., Alabama, as Dew/Due STEPHENS does appear on 1830 Montgomery Co., AL. census , 1840 Lowndes Co., AL. census, 1850 Rankin Co., MS. census, and 1860 Ashley Co., AR. census. from Ashley Co., AR. they seem to have spread out and I have lost them from there except for Duncan/Dew STEPHENS Jr. James and John STEPHENS may have fought in the CW as I have not been able to positively identify them on 1870 census. 3. Requesting help from list members familiar with the STEPHENS / STEVENS lines which include males with the given name "Barnabus". Could you please take a few minutes to review our John STEPHENS / STEVENS family info below, including son 'Barnabus' , to see if there might be a connection to your research? Does anyone recognize the following family from the info we have compiled? Would appreciate any help or suggestions for tracing our John/Barnabus....back to John's parents in VA... or OH... or NC. Info for John and Mary (my 3x gr-grandparents) comes from the 1880 US Census, info on their children comes from other census records, various online databases and the kind assistance of other Rootsweb list members. I realize that there is still much researching and documenting to do (esp. with the spelling back and forth between STEVENS and STEPHENS).. but I just can't help thinking that the name 'Barnabus' is significant and could lead us back another generation or two... Here's what we have... note Barnabus is 6th child listed below... given names of other children might also provide clues.. 3. We are looking for the family of Alice Ella Lane and Oscar Wendall Stephens. What we know is that Alice was the daughter of Ora C Lane and Belle Updike, and the ggrandaughter of Henry Lawrence Lane and Lillian Howell. She was born in Littleton, Arapahoe Co., Colo in 1910. What we have found on another persons website is that she may have died in 1950 in Grand Junction, Mesa Co. Colo. It has her husband listed as Oscar Wendall Stephens, b. 23 Oct 1902 in Corning, Kansas and 2 living children. If anyone has any knowledge of this family please contact me. Thank you for any help.
