Thanks Michael, I was thinking that could be them. Since Lincoln's name was Abraham Lincoln Stephens so I figured their names would be Andrew Jackson, George Washington. I believe James may have died because somthing is mentioned about burial clothing in the Monroe Co. notes Can someone look that up for me to be sure. Thanks, Krys
Did try to look for them but no luck yet, Polly could easily be Mary, Elizabeth or some other name. Krys

Polly Kelly could easily be Jane's mother. See if you can find Polly and husband in the 1860 and 1850 TN census. S. Pat; I have not ran across a Garrett/Jarrot. It looks like Levi Stephens b about 1810 came to Missouri after 1844 and before 1849. His children were Frances b 1835 NC, Henry Ivera b 1836 NC, David b 1839 NC, Martha R. b 1841 NC, Melissa J. b 1844 NC and Mary C. b 1849 MO. Levi's wife was E'Dessa or Depry McConnell, daughter of Mary McConnell. Larry
Welcome Len, it is good to see the Stephens list active again. Is anyone out there related to JOSEPH W. STEPHENS/STEVENS who was born in Morgon Co., Missouri in 1855? The family was in Miller Co., MO in the 1860 census and in the 1870 I found Joseph, age 14, living with the John Coggburn family in Taney Co., MO. The Coggburn family was also in Miller Co. before the Civil War. Joseph was the brother of my husbands Grandfather, John J. Stephens/Stevens. Their parents were JAMES D. STEPHENS/STEVENS and SARAH and they had a brother, JAMES T. and a sister, REBECCA E. After the Civil was I could only find Joseph and John J. in Taney Co., MO. I would love to hear from anyone connected to this family. Larry, I have a Garrett Stephens who was born in NC about 1805 depending upon which Census we follow. He and his wife Lucinda and children are in Benton Co. AR in 1850. By 1860 he is still in Benton Co. but has married Julia A. Trammel. They move on to Denton Co. TX in 1870 and then Palo Alto Co TX by 1880. We have not found him after that. I have never found any connections for him in NC, so I wondered if you might have a Garrett/Jarrot in your Stephens line. Thanks for any help you may be able to give. My Stephens after leaving N.C., as we think they did, were in Hancock, and Jasper, and I believe Upson, and then my Stephen ended up in Heard, and he may have been in Troup all in Ga. They migrated on over to Randolph Co. Al., and then there were quite a few, that migrated on out to Hopson Co. Texas. I just recived a book in the mail today, about some of the Stephens, that migrated out there. Seems as if, a lot of folks from Randolph Co. Al., ended up out there. Becky, thanks for writing- old family story, that 2 bros., Henry and a John came with Oglethorpe to Ga. around 1733? Henry went into S. Car. Checked the Salsburg papers- no luck- there were a lot of early settlers in Ga. for fear of the indians and the Fla. Spanish that took refuge in S. Car. My ancestor a John S. You might also want to look in Columbus Cty, NC/Horry Cty, SC. There are a large number of STEPHENS/STEVENS in that area. My grandfater, who died in 1924 when my father was 8 yrs old, was always thought to have come from Tabor City, Columbus Cty, but was actually from Horry Cty (the southern edge of Tabor City is the state line). Hello, Welcome to the new Stephens list owner. I thought I'd give an account of my Stephen's group. I descend from a George Stephens, who we believe was born in N.C., in the 1850's. He was in Jasper Co. Ga., and died there in 1824. He was married to a Jane Danielly. She died in 1826 in Jasper Co. Ga. I then descend from their son, Stephen Stephens, who is believed was born in Craven or Jones Co. N.C. in 1773. He was married to a Mary Barrow or Barron. They were in Jasper Co. Ga. also, and ended up in Heard Co. Ga. He died in Heard Co. Ga., in the 1850's. I then descend from their son Alsey Stephens. He migrated on over to Randolph Co. Al. He was married to Priscilla Ozier. Then it goes to Jefferson Davis Stephens in Randolph Co. Al., who was married to Mary Frances "Mollie" Malone. They both died in Randolph Co. Al. She is buried at Pleasant Hill Methodist church in Wadley Al., and he is buried in the City cemetery in Wadley, Al. Next is their son, Benjamin Edgar Stephens, who was married to Emily Leola Ward. They are also buried in Randolph Co. Al., in Cedarwood Cemetery in Roanoke, Al. Then my mother, Frances Stephens, born July 15, 1918, and was married to Frank O. Carden. They are also both buried in the Cedarwood cemetery in Roanoke, Al. Then myself, Rebecca Elaine Carden. Some feel, the George Stephen's father, could be a Shadrack Stephens, but haven't been able to find concrete evidence of that. Becky Carden
