I am Burghardt's great grandson, through his son Karl (Charles). You had a Stephan family tree online back then that was very extensive, but it only went back to Burghardt and his likely brother, Johann Paul. I have not gotten back any further than that so far.....have you? What do you have on Burghardt's emigration? I know the year, from the 1900 census only. Also, John E Stephan is researching this line; you responded to his query on the STEPHAN messge board too. He was stationed in Germany last year in the Army; he was to interview someone with more info, but I don't know if he ever did so.
