Stephan Sr., 55, of Dorseyville, unexpectedly passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011, in UPMC Shadyside. He was born Nov. 29, 1955, in Pittsburgh, a son of late Ernest Stephan and Elaine Doublet Stephan. He leaves behind his wife, Josie (Blum), of 34 years; a son, Keith (Peggy), of London, England; a son, Neal (Jennifer), of Boston, Mass.; and a daughter, Caitlin, of Chicago, whom he loved very much; one grandson, Liam Stephan, and soon-to-arrive two new grandchildren, Wyatt Stephan and the other yet to be named; two brothers, Craig J. (Ruthann) Stephan, of Washington, Pa., and Michael (Gloria) Stephan, of Peters Township; two sisters, Karen (Van) Backeris, of Allison Park, and Cindy (Al) Norris, of Venetia; brother-in-law, Mickey (Judi) Blum, of Ross Township; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Michael "Mike" Blum; and mother-in-law, Mary Lou Smith Blum. Keith was an ASE Certified Cause and Origin Vehicle Theft Investigator and owner of Forensic Automotive Services. His passion for automobiles was fulfilled as a member of the pit crew for an NHRA Top Alcohol Funny Car. Those who knew him will miss his energetic! spirit, sense of humor, and his kind and deeply generous heart; we are all better for having had him in our lives. Family and friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at KYPER FUNERAL HOME, 2702 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. Parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Funeral prayer service will be held at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 2510 Middle Road, Glenshaw. Interment in Lakewood Memorial Gardens, Route 910.
