Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BZJBAEB/174.1 Message Board Post: After posting my last message, I've found Berthas full name was Bertha Emma Caroline Stephan, born 1856. Her parents were Andreas Siegmund Christoph (?August) Stephan and Christiane Louise Wollgast. Their other children were Gustav Adolph August (1852), Paul Herman Julius (1858), Clara Agnes Ida (1864), Emma Marie Helene (1862) and Anna Maria Louise (1854). I've not managed to get any further back though. Does this look familiar to anyone?

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/BZJBAEB/174 Message Board Post: I'm trying to find any info on my GGGrandmother, Bertha Stephan, born 17th August 1856. She married Isidore JACOBY in Berlin. I've found a birth record on the family search for Bertha Emma Caroline STEPHAN with the correct d.o.b. in Berlin, so I'm assuming that its her. Her parents were Andreas Sigmund Christoph Aug (Would this be August?) STEPHAN and Christine Louise WOLLGAST, but there are no other details. Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd be very grateful for any help.

I believe his was a family of five sons Andrew, Benedict, Charles, Gustav, and Franz and settled in Cincinnati Ohio. The emigration certainly occurred prior to 1876, when his granddaughter Mary Anna STEPHAN married my great grandfather Anton DENEKE in Cincinnati OH. The emigration occurred later than her birth in Königheim in 1849 (Feb 1). I have a copy of the Königheim Kirchenbuch, but it is quite difficult to read the handwriting. Thomas Kohn

My mom has quite a lot of information on him and his family. He was quite a hero in Hinckley, MN where he practiced medicine. His father was Daniel Stephan who came to this country from Germany when about age 15. He was involved in real estate, politics, and banking. He was a justice of the peace in Cleveland, OH, where the family lived for many years. Daniel was married twice (his first wife Elizabetha died leaving him with three young children). He married Mercy Twitchell and they had nine more children. If you would like more information, let me know. I'll fill in as much as possible but may need to contact my mom. I don't have all the dates, etc.
