My Great great Grandfather came to the US in 1870 and setteled in Plymouth Massachsetts. I have traced my stephan family back to a village in Alsace -Lorriane (depending on what year you check it was either Germany or France. The village would change from one country to the other depending on which one won the war between them.The village was called Roppwiller, it is now locate less than a mile inside France about 50 miles south of Strausburg. Then they moved to Jefferson Co., IN between 1844-1847 where 3 more children were born Peter b.1847, Margaret b.1849 and Isobel b. Dec 23, 1852. Hello I have a relative from the Alsace region. He came from there with 2 or 3 brothers about 1840. They were all butchers. He settled in Ithaca NY and had a shop there. He married an Elizabeth Kitchens and the had 3 children, One was my grandmother Elizabeth. I think he attended Cornell U there but I have no idea why. Philip Barto Santa Rosa, CA
