Steele - 11/18/1879 (He is buried in Kosse Cemetery.) I also descend from Steeles, but line is from Virginia, My paternal grandmother was a Steele. Hope this of help to someone. There is more in our local Library and as time permits, I'd be glad to do lookups. Speaking with a friend at Church this evening, he was talking about Steeles and he commented that Alphonso Steele was the last or one of the last living survivors of the Battle of San Jacinto when he died and is buried in the Mexia Cemetery. I have not confirmed, but will try to do so in the near future.
