Surnames: Steel/Steele/DeHaven Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/YdJBAIB/2019.2 Message Board Post: I don't know the name of my Steele ancestor's father; her name was Catherine Taylor Steele, approx. 1841-1894. She married Eugene Pyett DeHaven in Philadelphia, PA in 1863 and participated in the Philadelphia Centennial of 1876. I have several photos of her, including one in costume as Martha Washington for the Centennial. I have some photos labeled Steel and one labeled Andrew Steel, but there is some question as to whether my relative got the names right. Any further info on this family would be wonderful. I know Eugene's father had a shoe shop in Philadelphia, and Eugene pretty much gambled away the family's money by betting on horses. Does anyone recognize this family?
