Author: HowardSnooks Surnames: Steele, Wilson, Rowland, Looney Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.steele/3027/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My uncle,last name Steele recently submitted his DNA to FamilyTreeDNA,in order to see if we could trace our Steele line back past Robert Steele or Steel, who married Elizabeth Wilson in Botetourt County, VA in 1803. while we have Elizabeth's line well-traced, we haven't been able to trace Robert even though there are some well-documented Steele family lines in VA during that time. It turns out that my uncle's DNA submission does not yet have one match at even the 12-marker level, which is the least restrictive (it goes up to 67 markers). This is unusual, and I wonder if anyone out there has submitted their DNA for determining ancestral lines? The more who do, the better the chances of getting matches.
