Hello List New to this list and researching a collateral connection ....... Anyone got access to the book on the "Steele Family" by Daniel Steele Durrie (published in 1859 by Munsell & Rowland, New York)? (Seek especially copy of page 112 or thereabouts) I'm looking for information on the family of: James Steel of co. Londonderry, Ireland, (born 1742; died 1832), married Ann Smith of Londonderry. They relocated to the U.S.A. with most of their children to area of Abington, near Philadelphia and their sons: Rev Robert Steel, (born 9 January 1794); married to Mary Beatty; was thirty years pastor of Presbyterian church, at Abington, near Philadelphia. Rev Samuel Steel, (born 29 May 1796); for decades pastor at Hillsborough, Ohio, where he died on Saturday 22 November 1869. I'm working on the serial migration of their niece, Eliza Jane Kirke, daughter of Jane Steel (born 21 October 1788) and Matthew Kirke of Londonderry, who emigrated to Hillsborough, Ohio, in 1843/44 together with her husband Caldwell Kerr of Londonderry and eldest children, this family wintering with their kinsfolk at Abington, Philadelphia, during their travels west. Any help most appreciated. Kind regards David Mitchell Cape Town South Africa
