Janet, I think that I have gotten with you before.  I am very interested in seeing what we can share about the Steele's.  I am in Longview TX.  The following is what I have written, but have a lot more.  I do not have anyone working with me on the Steele line.  It is terrible that I did not follow up on some things that Bennie Best McDowell gave me.  I did talk to several people in think it was Greenback TN.  I am slow but sure on getting busy on this line.  Kids, grandbabies, the usual plus my health, but I would love to work with you and see how far we can go.  There is a Steele website that has a lot but some of it is not what I know so need to research. He was born April 14 1872 TN; died September 17 1958 Madisonville TN Monroe CO b Blount CO Hopewell Baptist Church.  He married Dossie Jenkins.   Their children were: Elmer;Mrs Earl Hampton;Wilmuth Labe; Frederick Clint "Frank" Addie Elizabeth; Ester Neva; Verbal Ralph; and John A Steele. Daughter of Marada Frank Steele, Mrs Earl Best who was Addie Elizabeth Steele was the mother of Bennie Best McDowell,  lived in Gladewater TX.  To my earliest memory was about the 1950's but will have to ask Bennie (by Cheryl Walters Parr 2007). 1957, JAN 17 Madisonville Democrat, (Monroe CO TN) “Mrs. Dossie Jenkins Steele, 79, died Tuesday night at her home in Madisonville. Survivors include her husband, Meredith Steele; five sons, W.L. and Frank Steele, of Maryville, John of Knoxville, Verbal and Elmer, of Madisonville; four daughters, Mrs. Earl Best of Gladewater, Tex., Mrs. Elbert Garren of Athens, Mrs. Grady Sneed of Greenback and Mrs. Ernie Hampton of Madisonville; 46 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, three brothers and three sisters.
