It appears, strongly, that I am directly descended from him. I am stuck on his parents, sibs, etc. Given what I read on this forum, and what I've learned about immigration patterns in the 1700s, it is possible he/his parents were from Northern Ireland, although I am unable to substatiate that. Hence the brick wall For what it may be worth, Samuel had a son, John Steel, who in turn had a son, John, who changed spelling to Steele sometime in mid 1800s in Tazewell Co, IL.
