I'm looking for a 1900 census list and a marriage list for Roanoke and Salem,Va.I seem to find only the old ones.Can anyone out there give me some ideas.I've already checked the lib.va.us.,all the postings,and all counties I can find in case they were somewhere else.Both sides of the family,Griffith(in) and Steele were to have been from Va.I would appreciate any help.Thank you Patt

Patt, I am also looking for Steele's from Va. My John Steele was married to Elizabeth Lair. My ggrandfather, Silas Wesley Steele, homesteaded in Grant County, IT in 1893 along with what seems like might be a brother, Melvin Steele. I have a copy of the page showing when they claimed and applied for the final land patent. On Silas' funeral papers he has listed John Steele and Elizabeth Lair as parents showing that he came from Ohio with his parents birthplace as Va. I hope some of this is of help and that perhaps we are looking for the same family. Please let me know.
