Hi All, Thought it was about time I posted my details again so new members etc. are aware. My family interest is in a William George was born in Dublin, Ireland in 1843, although his parents came from near London. Eventually he joined the British Army (Royal Engineers). He was posted to Halifax, Nova Scotia on 30 August 1862. According to his army records, he married a local girl, Ann (Annie) Steele "At Halifax on 15th December 1863 (without leave) - Recognized 5 August 1867". I know that she was born in Nova Scotia in about 1847, place of birth and place of marriage unknown. There were several children born in Nova Scotia:- Joseph William George born about 1864. Charles Allan George born about 1868. William Peter George born about 1870. John George born about 1872. Robert Harrington George born about 1874. William and Annie returned to England 18 May 1876, where several more children were born. Annie eventually died in England in 1890 of cholera. I have had a lot of help from people in Nova Scotia but have been unable to trace the family history of Annie and her family.
