I am researching the Steel(e)s of Northumberland County, New Brunswick-specifically Chatham but I have info on all Steele families in Northumberland. I also know a lot about all Steeles New Brunswick and P.E.I. and some on N.S. The name has been spelled both ways in this family although now is Steele in my line. This family line is Presbyterian and Catholic. As far as I know, this line started with John who came to N.B. in 1830. He was a Scottish labourer so I assume that is where he came from. Scottish ties seem to be throughout but my family thought they were Irish and were quite surprised to find out that wasn't true. If you can give me names and/or dates, I may be able to hook you up with someone,even if it's not me.
