In the fourth quarter of the 1900 th. century, my Steele family of Eastern KY. changed there name from Casteel to Steele. Does anyone have any idea why this happened. Dave Church dlchurch@bright.net
The Civil War caused many a person to change their last name in order to disacquaint themselves from someone they looked upon as a traitor.
