I was researching another of my family lines and came across a Samuel L Steel, born circa 1810 in Tennessee. He is listed on the 1850 Comanche County, Texas Census. It's hard to read the .gif images but from what I can tell he listed his occupation as Mechanic and was married to Lucinda (J?)b. circa 1812. He has four children listed, three girls and a boy ranging in age from 7-16. The oldest three were born in Tenn. and the youngest in Arkansas. Hope this will help someone out there.
