My wife's STEELE's are lost in western PA. We have very little on them. Do you know if JAMES STEELE ( son of MATTHEW STEELE and MARTHA FERGUSON) was married before he married MARY LOUISA CLARK? He married MARY LOUISA CLARK in 1840. His first child, MARTHA JANE STEELE was born in 1839. MARTHA JANE STEELE was my great-grandmother. Our family history says that he was married to an unknown ROGERS and that she died either in Ireland or on the ship over. MARTHA JANE STEELE was their only child.. I have nothing to confirm this .
