I am also researching Steeles,I believe from Va.Celeste (first name Collonial)Griffith(in)Steele.She was born in 1883 in Roanoke,W.VA,I believe,married Charles Steele in 1900 in either Salem,Va or Roanoke W.Va.I don't know if Salem was in W.VA or VA.Celeste is apparently the name she went by;pronounced Kalaste,with a long a.I still beleve she may have been in the Carlisle School,but a letter to Barbara Landis hasn't been answerd yet.If anyone sees this name,I would appreciate hearing from you.Thank you,Patt

    3. That is ROANOKE, VA and SALEM, VA. Their city limits touch. The Roanoke, VA public Library has excellent Genealogy records.
