Smith Futhey to my great-great-grandfather Thomas Iddings. It is written on May 23,1859, address: Westchester, Chester County PA. J.Smith Futhey was in his own words, "hunting up and making a list of all his connections". I guess we aren't very different from our ancestors.I noticed that no one has posted in a while re Ninian Steele, so I hope that this will get read. My linage is Adam-Ninian-Samuel-Ruth (who had a first marriage to James Thompson, who had a son name Captain James Thompson who according to my Great uncle George Iddings was "captured by Indians and worked his way back to civilization".). Per J.Smith Futhey, Ruth had a second marriage and married Samuel Futhey. I am hoping someone knows the story of Captain James Thompson. J.Smith Futhey states that Ninian's father was Adam, who came from Northern Ireland about 1720 and settled in New London, Chester County.

Saw this posting and thought this information may be of help. Perhaps this is the Adam you are seeking...As far as I know this early in PA there is only this Adam. Since his will is probated after Ninian's then he could well be the father of Ninian. He states that he has only two heirs at the time of his death, William and Richard. Does anyone else have any thoughts? I believe the William mentioned has been tied into the Elliot records. Adam Steele Born 1690 in Ireland. Father Thomas Steele. Grandfather - Thomas Steele.
